livebox-opensource, what a joke!
Submitted by gle on Sat, 12/05/2009 - 11:02So Orange finally released some open source code for the Sagem livebox 1.
You can find it here: http://www.livebox-opensource.com/livebox1/sagem/
First impressions:
- Where are the Linux kernel sources?
- Where is OpenRG?
- A lot of other stuff are missing: The modified U-Boot, the bluetooth and wireless tools and drivers, etc.
- I didn't know openssl was GPLed!
I guess Orange should read the GPL FAQ, they are only proving how much they are violating the licenses by publishing such an incomplete and useless junk.
JTAG
Submitted by gle on Fri, 09/25/2009 - 14:14I have started playing with the solder pads just above the AD6833KB (main CPU of the livebox) shown on http://www.i2bp.com/images/Livebox003.jpg . I suspect this is a JTAG connector (and the pads just above right could be interresting too, maybe a console port or something ?). Using my multimeter (wish I had an oscilloscope), I have hopefully half-guessed the role of most pins and have soldered cables to them.
I'm not quite dead!

Livebox Sagem Firmwares
Submitted by gle on Mon, 04/27/2009 - 21:10Let's take a 260 series Livebox Sagem firmware, found for instance on the CD-ROM distributed by Orange in France, and look into it.
Blog update
Submitted by gle on Wed, 03/18/2009 - 21:12If you created an account, you probably never received the activation link. It should now work as expected. You'll have to recreate your user, though. Sorry.
Short explanation: for some reason when Drupal sends an email using the PHP mail() function, the From address in the enveloppe of the mail was set by postfix to the www user with a localdomain domain name, so the MTA of my iSP bounced them. Adding a fifth "-r www@i2bp.com" parameter to the mail() call fixed that.
Chips on the Sagem Livebox
Submitted by gle on Wed, 02/04/2009 - 21:29On the Fast 3202 board of the Sagem Livebox, we can identify:
An AD6833KB CPU. It has a LX4189 core (MIPS instruction set).
An 88E6021-RCJ chip driving the ethernet ports.
The AD6487JBC and AD6488XCP chips (aka Eagle) doing all the ADSL 2+ stuff.
A BT3014 or BT3015 bluetooth chip.
An optional mini PCI wifi chip. Here a BCM 4306, but other models exist.
2 48LC8M16A2 modules giving a total of 16 Mb of RAM
An S29GL064 flash chip (8 Mb).
A CY7C67200 for the USB stuff
An Si316 VoIP codec.
An LC4032V FPGA.
Other chips of lesser importance.
LiveBox Sagem 1.1
Submitted by gle on Mon, 02/02/2009 - 22:56The Livebox is a residential gateway distributed by Orange/Wanadoo to DSL customers in France ans elsewhere. The 1.1 version is manufactured by Sagem or Inventel. Lets's study the Sagem version.

Me
Submitted by gle on Mon, 01/26/2009 - 21:55Just a few words, since I'm don't like revealing too much personal details on the internet:
- I'm French
- I'm 40
- I am married and have 2 children
- I live in Haute-Savoie and work in Geneva
This blog will probably be mostly abour software and technology since these are the topic that drive my work and my hobbies, but there will probably be some personal articles as well.
Oh, and please forgive my bad English. I do my best but it's not my natural language...
